About Black Cat Racing
Black Cat Racing was set-up in 2001 to build and campaign a Convertible TVR 280i in the TVR Car Club Tasmin Challenge Series. Entering halfway through the 2001 Season At Cadwell park. Graham Walden Piloted the Car to 9th on the grid of 18 cars in the first race for both the car in the driver. The Following 2 seasons in 2002 and 2003 saw Black Cat Racing with Graham at the wheel develop into consistent mid field finishes as the cars all developed rapidly.
Off Season testing before the 2004 Season showed up a handling fault in the car caused by a problem with the differential configuration. This was quickly swapped for a spare standard diff with dramatic results.
The First event of 2004 was a Double header event at Pembrey in south
The rest of the 2004 season would see the team finish on the podium every time with several more wins, and develop a reputation as “The Rainmiesters”.
The End of the season saw the Team with 1st in class and Second overall.
In 2005 The Team ran 2 cars in the Toolsnstuff.co.uk/SIP TVRCC Challenge Cup, the Class Winning 280i known in TVR Circles as “Topless Taz” and Graham Walden moved up to Class B in an ex Tuscan Challenge car, that the team are fitted with a rover v8 from a 4ltr TVR Chimaera.
Despite a rush to get the Tuscan ready and limited testing due to Budget constraints, Graham Lead the class all season taking pole and fastest lap at almost every round. The class win went down to the wire and an ignition fault whilst leading the last race relegated us to 2nd in class.
For 2006 the TVRCC Challenge Cup has joined the Tuscan Challenge to produce a TVR series with some very mixed cars. This brings the promise of 30 car grids and some excellent racing, which together with a race at Spa and Sky-TV coverage it should be a great Year.
